Jacob Juma, a businessman and anti-regime voice was shot by a motorcycle rider at around 2130hrs EAT as he was driving home along Lenana road in the capital Nairobi.
Most bloggers (often targeting regime) were quick to blame the government of Kenya for the death of the 42 year old man accused of corruption, hate speech, and promoting ethnicity through social media.
Juma's killing resembles the assassination of Kabete MP Muchai in 2015. It was a mystery murder. The motive and the actors remain elusive. The reason being Muchai had so many land business deals thus accumulated equally many rivals and enemies.
Jacob Juma was similarly controversial. He amassed many enemies in business and often tried to rub the govt the wrong way.
Through social media Juma claimed he was to be killed naming the Deputy President of Kenya William Ruto as obsessed with plans to kill him. This begs some interesting questions about the character of Juma before his death.
- Why didn’t he report the plans to kill him to the police?
- Why didn’t Jacob Juma record a statement about plans to assassinate him?
- Why didn't he ask for state security to ensure his safety?
- Why did Jacob Juma not issue a press statement about his planned assassination?
- Did Jacob Juma premeditate to blame government of Kenya for his death?
- Did Jacob Juma know who was to kill him and opted to blame government?
Jacob Juma death, just like Mr Muchai's death is shrouded by mystery. It's highly possible Jacob new who was planning to kill him but opted to shift blame to a soft target (Government of Kenya).
Possible cause of his death is likely bad business deals and politics but not his anti-government rhetoric. His fiery tweets were ground for another insidous person to take advantage of (Jacob Juma opened many enemy fronts and had no idea who'd hit him hard).
Truly terrible writing exarcebated further by the lack of impartiality. Fie.
