Media in Somalia has reported that the armed Islamist group Al-Shabaab demoted Lower Shabelle group’s representative.
According to OSINT reports, (VOA Somali) say the demotion of Sheikh Mohamed Abu Abdalla follows peace agreements by Somali tribes that live in locality of Lower Shabelle some years back.
Reports indicate that Sheikh Mohamed Abu Abdalla tried to broker agreements that one of the tribe was not satisfied with.
The said tribe which seems to have an ear of Al-Shabaab leadership launched complains to the militants group and demotion of Sheikh Mohamed Abu Abdalla followed.
It is dangerous that some tribes in Somalia are aligned to Al-Shabaab terrorists.
This precedent should be discouraged as Al-Shabaab a terrorists group expects to gains from tribe’s misfortunes and likely to cause tribal clashes in Lower Shabelle.
Tribes in Somalia should embrace unity, collaborate with security forces (SNA, AMISOM) in stabilizing Somalia government and the country’s institutions to solve their problems.
