The Islamic State spokesman Abu Mohamed al-Adnani in a 40-minute audio recording confirmed the death of Abu Mutaz al Qurashi also known as Fadhil Ahmad al-Hayali; second in command in the Islamic State. He announced that Qurashi was killed by US airstrikes earlier in the year without confirming the earlier released dates by the US of August 18th 2015.
According to an official statement released by the US, Qurashi was killed in 18th August 2015 in an airstrike near Mosul in northern Iraq.
Additionally in the audio message, the Islamic State issued threats of their increasing strength and numbers as airstrikes against them both in Syria and Iraq have intensified. The statement also comes barely two days since Iraqi Army announced the possible hit of the Daesh’s leader Abu Bakr al- Baghdadi in Western Iraq.
