Islamic State group (ISIS) claimed, through its propaganda channels, that Benjamin Herman was one of their “soldiers”.
Benjamin repeatedly stabbed two policewomen in Liege on Tuesday before using their own firearms to kill them, according to investigators in Belgium during his leave from prison. He then shot a bystander sitting in a parked car.
The outlawed group further claimed that Benjamin attacked the policeman in response to ISIS calls to target US-led International Coalition which is fighting the Jihadist group mainly in Syria.
Prosecutors said his method of attack was a known “modus operandi” of ISIS, which claimed deadly attacks in Brussels in 2016.
