30th September 2015, the Interim Jubbaland Administration security forces managed to dismantle a landmine which was planted in Waamo stadium in Kismayo, the administrative capital IJA.
While addressing the local media in Kismayo town, spokesman of IJA security forces Ahmed Arab lauded the locals who tipped the security authorities who in turn managed to dismantle and foil catastrophic repercussions that would been caused by the buried landmine.
Al Shabaab militants who are fighting government officials as well as AU peacekeeping troops in Somalia are responsible for series of attacks mostly associated with planting landmines.
The spokesman hailed the collaboration between the locals and the security forces that made it possible in preventing the attack from happening citing this is the only way the militants would be eliminated and substituted with peace and order in the town.
Finally he called on individuals who may have any information on crime activities or any intelligence on possible attacks to inform the relevant authorities reassuring them their identities will remain sealed and in confidence.
