Intelligence experts are now calling on Kenyan media to stop speaking the same language as that portrayed on the Al Shabaab propaganda against the Kenyan government.
The warning against spreading Al Shabaab propaganda comes at a time when the Kenyan government has intensified war against the Al Shabaab terror group in Somalia killing a number of militants and key fighters as the few remaining ones fighting back through social media space.
The use of soial media space to spread Al Shabaab propaganda has been widely used in recruiting youth, spreading radicalization messages and showcasing the prowess in the manner in which terror attacks are being conducted globally.
As to such, intelligence experts say if the Kenyan media does not control the kind of messages they relay to the public, more youth could get attracted to joining these groups which conduct atrocities all over the world.
The latest of the AL Shabaab propaganda is a promise to help the Kenyan opposition leaders overthrow the government. Intelligence experts say such are tactics used by militia groups across the globe to inflict war in different countries. A case study is the Yemen government which is currently being hit by the Houthi rebels who are now being supported by the Al Qaeda in Yemen (AQAP).
Recently, Sheikh Abdi Aziz Abu Mus’ab the Somali based terrorist organization spokesman has been seen to appear on the media spreading Al Shabaab propaganda to attack Kenya. However, Kenya’s government stand on fighting terror from Somalia still stands to 2017.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) went into Somalia in 2011 after Al Shabaab raided coastal towns and has since seen a gush in deadly attacks which has claimed lives of hundreds.
