Summary
Dadaab refugee camp is in Kenya’s North Eastern Province (NEP). It is the biggest refugee camp in the world hosting more than half a million refugees from Somalia alone.
Jubbaland leader Ahmed Madobe, members of Somali cabinet and officials of UNHCR are accompanying the PM in his landmark visit to Dadaab refugee camp, where he is meeting with the refugees.
The visit from the delegation from Somalia comes a few days after Kenya’s Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery saw off the 41 Somalis at the Dadaab Airstrip back to Somalia.
UNHCR, Kenya and Somalia are struggling to repatriate a half million refugees back to Somalia.
The repatriation process has entangled likelihoods because it is very crucial to Somalia’s August 2016 polls that will determine the political and democratic direction of the country.
