The boat that was ferrying heroin worth billions of shillings off the Kenyan coast has been seized in the port of Mombasa after docking.
Australian Navy operating under an international maritime authority body seized the MV Laxminarayan and arrested three crew who include a Kenyan, Tanzanian, and a man of Asian origin.
Kenya and Australia were briefly involved in a diplomatic issue after Kenya protested the presence of HMAS Darwin warship in Kenyans waters.
However the Combined Maritime Forces confirmed that HMAS Darwin warship was 37 nautical miles off the Kenyan waters and that it seized MV Laxminarayan in international waters.
Intelligence sources report that the commanders of HMAS Darwin warship released the MV Laxminarayan and its crew before they destroyed the heroin weighing 1032kgs.
Kenyan detectives have impounded the boat and have been conducting searches in the boat using sniffer dogs to test it for drugs.
