Two Kenyan police officers were arrested while smuggling ivory, intelligence sources report.
Kenyan wildlife officials in a statement said that two police officers from Nairobi were arrested while smuggling transporting illegal pieces of ivory.
The Kenya government has suffered setbacks after dozens of rhinos and elephants were killed by poachers and the trophies smuggled to China and Asian black markets.
Intelligence was passed to relevant authorities and the 2 officers were arrested with 6 pieces of ivory from Meru.
The two police men were traveling back to Nairobi.
In 2014 alone poachers have killed 18 rhinos and 51 elephants while in 2013 they killed 302 elephants.
