Government forces in Beledweyne have shot dead a man suspected to be Al-Shabaab member belonging to a cell that attacked government forces at Howl Wadag village. The suspect was killed after he attacked a government soldier.
Arab Yusuf Noor, a senior security official confirmed that the government forces in Howl Wadag killed a suspected Al-Shabaab fighter after he attacked and wounded a government soldier in Howl Wadag village in Beledweyne.
Al-Shabaab’s MO is to carry out attacks against government institutions and military bases in South and Central Somalia in a bid to topple the western recognized federal government and impose their strict interpretation of sharia.
