5th January 2016, latest military reports from Somalia reveal that hundreds of fresh Ethiopian troops deployed have arrived at the strategic Bardheere town in Gedo region.
The fresh batch of armed forces will help Jubbaland state in eliminating Al Shabaab militants.
According Mohamed Hussein Al Qadi, the Deputy Governor in-charge of Gedo region confirmed that the fresh contingent of Ethiopian soldiers arrived in Bardheere ready to fight and liberating the remaining parts of Jubbaland territories from Al Shabaab militants.
Ethiopian armed forces are part of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). Other troops contributing countries includes, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Djibouti and Sierra Leone.
The African Union peace keeping mission has about 22,000 forces in Somalia fighting the Al Qaeda affiliated jihadist group waging parallel attacks to overthrow the western backed government and impose strict Islamist sharia law.
