EVENT SUMMARY, Paris, April 28, 2016
French court has charged the Paris attacks mastermind Salah Abdeslam over his role in the November 2015 killings.
The charges come just a few hours after Salah Abdeslam was extradited to Paris from Brussels.
Abdeslam was airlifted to France by helicopter early Wednesday 27th April 2016 and formally was placed under arrest before being whisked to the main Paris court where he spent a couple of hours.
Abdeslam is a French national of Moroccan origin. He grew up in Belgium and is believed to be only the terror architect surviving responsible to cafes, concert hall and national stadium in Paris bombing on November 13, 2015 that left 130 people killed and scores injured.
Salah Abdeslam has been one of the Europe’s most wanted men. He was arrested in Brussels on March 18 after four months on the run.
Prosecutors believe Salah Abdeslam was in charge of logistics for the Paris multiple attacks, as he rented cars and hotel rooms used by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group attackers.
His brother Brahim detonated his suicide vest in a bar but Salah Abdeslam who was supposed to do the same backed off at the last minute.
