Sunday, 24th May 2020: At least four civilians were killed in a landmine explosion that happened in Baidoa, southwest Somalia. Local reports indicate that the four died on the spot while about 20 others wounded were rushed to the hospital, some in critical condition.
The landmine targeted innocent civilians, including children who had attended Eid al Fitr celebrations within the outskirts of Baidoa, the regional administrative capital of troubled Southwest state in Somalia.
Local residents had gathered in the town as part of the traditional way of ending the holy month of Ramadhan when the explosion happened.
Humiliated Al-Qaeda aligned Al-Shabaab which often claims responsibility for such explosion attacks have not issued any statement to justify their heinous raid.
Earlier on Sunday, a police general survived a bomb blast targeting his vehicle in Mogadishu. General Ali Hersi Barre and his bodyguards escaped unhurt following the explosion.
