Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo met with SNA commanders, Police and NISA chiefs in charge of the county’s security and grilled them on the deadly Wednesday suicide attack against Local Government Headquarters that saw nearly 10 killed and several others critically wounded.
The President was briefed on security lapses and the ongoing investigations by Police and the country’s intelligence agency, NISA.
President Farmaajo instructed the government to quickly come up with a comprehensive plan on the fight against the Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Shabaab and its secretive informers possible inside government. “It is unacceptable that Al-Shabaab elements remain amidst us”, the statement from the Villa said.
Separately, the Former Mogadishu Mayor Thabit Abdi Mohamed asked the security chiefs to come clear on the functionality of security cameras – CCTV at the Mayor’s meeting hall.

Its remains unclear how a female Al-Shabaab suicide bomber breached into the building’s security and detonated herself, killing several people last week Wednesday.
The Ex-Mogadishu Mayor has questioned on functionality of the CCTV installed in the Mayor’s headquarters alleging they were faulty and presents huge security loopholes to such an important office.
Thabit was replaced by Abdirahman Omar Osman after he was relieved of his duties by President Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo in January 2018.
