Regional leaders in East Africa region have lauded Kenya for lifting ban on 13 Somali remittance companies which had been stopped from operating.
These institutions which were operating across the country had been frozen following claims of suspected business men to be funding terrorists through these institutions.
According to Kenya which has been acting on humanitarian grounds, unlocking the ban will help reduce the levels of poverty in the Horn of Africa country.
This move will also aid Somalia nationals to receive money from well-wishers who reside out of the country.
Somalia has further appealed to Western governments and banks to continue providing services to Money Transfer Operators (MTOs).
According to the terror torn country, this will help the region alleviate poverty, and by extension, reduce insecurity.
