Dozens of al Shabaab militants have been killed following overnight airstrikes in the town of Jilib. The overnight airstrikes were targeting a militia camp in the locale. Intelligence reports indicate that an explosives training facility was hit by the airstrikes.
Commander of the Al Shabaab’s Hisba police station in Jilib town Hassan Dhere and his deputy among other high-ranking members of Al Shabaab in the areas were killed in the airstrikes.
Further reports from the area say a district office, a station, a militia camp, and an area thought to be used by Amniyat’s explosives wing may have been targeted.
Al Shabaab is said to have suffered major casualties seeing as a supplies transition post was also attack by airstrikes in central Somalia. The airstrikes go further to reiterate the role played by the numerous defectors from the terror group in south and central Somalia.
