Latest OSINT and SOCMINT reports indicate that a fierce gunfight between Somali government forces and Al-Shabaab militants broke out at Bulo Sheikh locality in the outskirts of Qoryoley town, about 120 kilometers south west of Mogadishu.
Military Intelligence reports also confirm the raid on an illegal checkpoint run by Al-Shabaab militants and used to forcefully extort money from the locals and from public transporters.
SNA following intelligence from local assets raided the area, militant resistance reported but they were overwhelmed and subsequently their checkpoint destroyed.
According to a senior Somali military commander in the area, several militants were killed and a number captured alive during the army operation.
Somali forces reportedly removed the illegal roadblocks set up by the militants in the Lower Shabelle region.
