US-led coalition and partner forces have maintained that the troops killed at least 200 Islamic State (ISIS) fighters in the last several weeks on January 2019. The operations took part in the now liberated towns of Al Kashmah, Sirat Masoud, and As Shafah in Iraq.
Four of those killed included senior IS commanders, the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) according to a statement released. The troops also struck and destroyed three tunnels used by the terrorist to hide as well as store supplies that facilitated attacks on locals and security officers.
The killing marks some of the key milestones achieved by the coalition and partner forces in ensuring that ISIS is eradicated and defeated in the country and the region as the country seeks to reestablish normalcy and stability in major towns and other liberated regions.
