A 5 storey building situated in Nairobi’s Makongeni area has collapsed, emergency services have confirmed.
5 People have so far been rescued and rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital.
The building collapsed around 2.am Wednesday morning
Early investigations on the victims inside the building indicate there are about 30 households trapped in the collapsed building.
The building has only one exit and entrance making it difficult for victims to flee
Government agencies have started a rescue mission.
General Service Unit officers are coordinating rescue operations with National Youth Service backed by rescue agencies.
The building was under construction.
The owner was putting up the 4th floor which may have pressured the weak and poor architectural structure causing it to crumble.
