The US army has suspended the use of the black beret after 10 years and will be using the patrol cap instead, according to US Army spokesman Colonel Tom Collins.
The black beret which many soldiers claim has not provided the needed services will be replaced by a suitable head gear.
According to one soldier, the beret has many flaws including poor sweat absorption qualities, does not shield the head from the sun, does not hold on well, besides making the head skin break out or peel.
The US Army beret has been in use for the past ten years for which critical issues about its suitability have been raised subsequently leading to its exit from popular use.
The patrol cap offers the desired results and more officers find it a better replacement for their everyday use US Army spokesman Colonel Tom Collins told SIN.
