Somali forces in Lower Jubba region have repulsed an attack at their military base by the al Shabaab on the wee hours of Thursday morning.
The al Shabaab terrorists targeted an SNA base in the outskirts of Afmadow town with motor shells and other heavy weaponry. The state side was able to repulse the attack killing three al Shabaab and seizing a cache of weapons and ammunition.
Al-Shabab did not comment on the fight they engaged with Somali National Army. Since the beginning of this month, Al-Shabab has carried out three attacks in Lower Jubba and Shabelle region.
The attack comes several days since UPDF soldiers dealt the al Shabaab a huge blow in a failed attack that killed over 80 al Shabaab terrorists.
