
Kenya Army (The Kenya Defense Forces) deployed strategically in Mandera throughout the weekend of 20th-21st of June 2015 to disrupt planned attacks by the The Shabaab al-Mujahideen Movement, Al-Qaeda’s branch in Somalia, Directorate of Military Intelligence reports shows.
“Local elements of the terror group who known to the people,are the key players, and the intelligence services are closing in on them” DMI.
Al Shabaab has surged in Somalia, attacking Somali National Army troops and police. On Sunday the terror group attacked the Somali National Intelligence Security Agency facility.
The surge has focused on military and other security agencies. Kenya has robustly disrupted the attacks.
Intelligence services in Kenya are working round the clock to analyze and forecast possible targets. Each report is circulated to the targeted area for military and the police to design a highly effective preemption strategy.
Kenya is sending a powerful message to the terror group and other criminals, “The security of Kenyans will not be compromised by both internal and external actors.”
