AMISOM troops in the Hiiran region have commenced the renovation of Bulla Burdo Airport. The rehabilitation is very vital to the commercial and humanitarian access well-needed for the stabilization of the town.
Bulla Burdo was recaptured from the Harakat Al Shabaab al Mujahedeen in March 2014. The town was a very crucial town serving as a base from which attacks on the populace were launched and coordinated from.
A maternity hospital and wells are among other key social amenities already set up to facilitate the economic growth and sustenance.

AMISOM troops are very keen to not only recapture towns from the Shebab militants but also help the residents rebuild their lives. Hiiran area that was captured from the al Shabaab in March 2014 is one such area that the peacekeepers are helping reconstruct.
Troops have commenced the renovation of Bulla Burdo airport to facilitate commercial and humanitarian access to and from the town and it will soon be operational.. Ample movement has been obstructed by the militants since they were forced of the town where they have resulted to hit and run attacks on roads network linking the town to neighboring towns and in turn frustrating development and economic growth.
AMISOM Djiboutian troops have also constructed the first Bulla Burdo Maternity Hospital with the equipment expected soon, 5 water wells have already been dug to supply the town’s populace with water all falling in line with the mission’s agenda.
Renovation of the airport will connect the town and her neighbors with humanitarian access and revamp the commercial trade. Among the towns that it will connect to include Mogadishu this is now reviving its original economic bliss, Beletweyne, Galkayo, Baidoa and Kismayo.
AMISOM Sector IV officials previously visited the area to access the progress reporting that the airport’s renovation is nearly complete and would start operations very soon.

Despite the recent attacks by the al Shabaab militants on AMISOM base troops, reports indicate that the militants have lost significant ground and have resulted to hit and run attacks that are uncoordinated.
Residents of the recapture towns from the jihadist with the help of the peacekeepers are slowly but steadily rebuilding their lives, coming together to stabilize their towns in a bid to better their lives and enhance the country’s sustainable development.
