The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has officially launched a nationwide recruitment exercise that targets over 2500 recruits on Monday 14th September 2015.
Vice Chief of the Defence Forces Lt Gen Joseph Kasaon said the exercise will run for the next 30 days in all 272 district headquarters, targeting more than 2,500 general service personnel.
Earlier specified condition that were advanced for recruitment into the KDF included the following
(1) Must be Kenyan citizens.
(2) Age: Between 18 and 26 years old.
(3) Be physically and mentally fit in accordance with the KDF standards.
(4) Have no criminal record.
(5) Minimum height: 5 ft 3 in. (5’ 3”).
(6) Minimum weight:
(a) Men: 54.55 Kg (120 lb).
(b) Women: 50.00 Kg (110 lb).
- Female candidates must not be pregnant at recruitment and during training.
- Education: A minimum of mean grade D (plain) in KCSE for the general recruits.
Other conditions were specific to different entries in the recruitment process.
KDF has provided the public with some few tips concerning the nationwide recruitment
- Guard against conmen who pose as part of military
- Avail relevant documents including Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education certificates
- Ensure they have original national identification cards
- Show up on time for the recruitment exercise
Lt Gen Joseph Kasaon said that anyone caught with fake documents will be arrested, prosecuted and convicted for five months without an option of a fine.
