African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops, alongside the Somali National Army (SNA), on Friday killed six Al-Shabaab terrorists in an area about some 35 kilometers from sea port town of Kismayo in southern Somalia.
AMISOM force spokesperson Joe Kibet, the joint forces took control of Bula-Gadud location and also recovered weapons including IED making materials.
Kibet confirmed six bodies of the enemy were retrieved from the battle scene saying there were no casualties from their side.
The Al Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab did not immediately comment on that. The Islamist terrorist group has been fighting against the Somali government for years, staging frequent attacks in the country.
AMISOM and SNA have increased their operations against the militants as part of efforts to secure the ongoing elections in Somalia.
