AMISOM Troops Establish New Military Bases In Galgaduud Central Somalia

Ethiopian troops under the AMISOM as of 30th September, have set up new military bases in Galgaduud region in central Somalia. The troops have set up camps in the Eel-lahelay locality that is between the region’s capital Dhusamareb and Elbuur.

Areas of Central Somalia have not only been harboring the militants but in the recent weeks clan clashes have ensued resulting to several people dead and score injured.

In the past Ethiopian troops have established military bases in Somalia as operational and launch bases for direct assault on the Al Shabaab militants who have lost significant ground in the recent months.

Despite local residents of Galgaduud area expressing fear of being caught in the hems way of the war between the Ethiopian troops and the militants they have expressed enthusiasm in the success of the operation.

AMISOM troops have received both continental and global accolade for their efforts in stabilizing Somalia especially most recently in New York at the UN general meeting attracting more aid and partners in the war against the militants.
