AMISOM Police handed over a new and renovated police station in Dhobley to the Somali Police Force in the area. The renovation is in line with the wider efforts of the police under AMISOM to improve the institution’s capacity in Somalia.

Summary:

AMISOM’s Police initiative called the Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) has achieved a major milestone when on the 3rd of April they handed over a fully and newly renovated police station in Dhobley to the police.

QIPs are geared at ensuring quick but long lasting impacts that improve the service delivery to the Somali people and at the same time improve the Somali Police Force’s institutional capacity.

Officials speaking at the ceremony lauded the efforts by the AMISOM both the soldiers and police and boosting the confidence of the Somali people in the peace process instigated by the peacekeepers.

AMISOM Police have insisted that the success of their mission is directly linked with how strong the police institution in Somalia is; which requires a comprehensive strategy with realistic and achievable objectives with total cooperation between all the stakeholders.
