A Week after an S.I Report linking the Somali telecom company Hormund Telecom to the strategic destruction of Kenya’s largest mobile service provider Safaricom, the communications center for converged regions in South Western Somalia was destroyed on Monday 23rd July 2018. According to intelligence reports, the Hormund Telecom’s communications center located in Issa Gur Village of Gedo prefecture, 12 kilometers east of El-Wak in Somalia, was destroyed by a team of Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Shabaab Mujahideen after the company official failed to remit Zakat. This further reinforces S.I report linking Hormund Telecom to financing the terrorist group besides facilitating economic terrorism.
HUMINT Reports confirm a team of masked and heavily armed men from Somalia entered Issa Gur Village 12 kilometers east of El-Wak in Somalia late Monday. 3 People, working at the communications center were killed by the men dressed in police uniforms and masks that resemble Kenya’s counter terrorism police as disguise.
The terror group executes those who do not pay Zakat besides destroying their property. The terror group also orchestrates attacks that resemble historical events. According to Shabaab Mujahideen, any Muslim who consciously refuses to pay zakat is an apostate, since the failure to believe is a form of unbelief (kufr), and should be killed. The terror group subscribes to radical Islam ideologies including collecting Zakat using military force. In radical Islam, use of military force to extract Zakat was justified, as was done by Abu Bakr during the Ridda war, on the argument that refusing to submit to just orders is a form of treason.
