SNA, AMISOM and other allied forces including U.S. SF continue to degrade Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia.
Credible OSINT reports indicate that on 16th May 2016, Al-Shabaab militants tried to breach security on SNA and AMISOM manned bass in Halgan, Hiiraan region.
A senior SNA official confirmed the attack happened saying Al-Shabaab tried to attack SNA and Ethiopian manned bases but were successfully repulsed.
Al-Shabaab suffered after their fighters were killed in a botched military base attack.
Pro-Al Shabaab propaganda outlets reported that fighters allied to Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen , official Al Qaeda branch in Somalia attacked Halgan town near Beledweyne city in Hiiraan region, central Somalia killing a number of SNA soldiers. The propaganda outlets also claimed to have repelled American forces.
SNA has refuted militants claims, confirmed that all their soldiers were accounted for after the botched attack in Halgan town and maintains SNA and AMISOM's Ethiopian troops are in control of their military bases, Halgan town and the sorrounding areas.
