An undisclosed number of Al Shabaab terrorists have been captured in Garbahaarey region during an intense battle pitting the terrorists against the AMISOM-Somali National Army alliance. A number of terrorists were killed and the terrorist group was expelled from the region. The Government of Somalia has confirmed that it is currently holding several captured terrorists, and will display them to the media very soon.
Garbahaarey is the regional capital of Gedo, a regional state located in Lower Juba. AMISOM troops are working alongside Somali National Army to cleanse the Lower Juba region of terrorist infiltration.
In another instance of allied victory, AMISOM forces have liberated Janay Abdalle from the clutches of Al Shabaab, and they are currently scouting the neighboring settlements for terrorists. Janay Abdalle is a settlement located 80km from Afmadow. AMISOM forces have also captured Farwaamo from Al Shabaab and they are also cleansing it of the remaining Al Shabaab terrorists.
Al Shabaab is currently experiencing a string of battlefield defeats and military losses as a coalition of regional armies under the auspices of AMISOM and the Somali National Army dislodges the terrorists from the territories they had occupied in Central and Southern Somalia. Current intelligence reports show that Al Shabaab is migrating northwards towards Galgala, a settlement in Bari region of Puntland whose geographical features include a rugged terrain.
From August 2014 to October 2014, Galgala was the scene of a fierce battle between Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab (under the command of Sheikh Mohamed Said Atom) and the security forces of the Puntland administration. The Puntland administration emerged victorious and drove the terrorists from Galgala hills but the region still experiences low level insurgency.
