An al Shabaab roadside IED killed four Somali army troops and injured others at Wanlaweyn area of Lower Shabelle, 90kilometers North-west of the capital Mogadishu, military confirmed Friday.
The IED planted on MSR targeted SNA mobile patrols.
Al-Shabaab, which is linked to Al-Qaeda and wants to impose strict Islamic law in Somalia, claimed responsibility.
“We are behind the attack at Wanlaweyn. We killed several soldiers and injured others,” Al-Shabaab’s military operations spokesman Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab known to exaggerate number of casualties claimed through their pro-websites.
