In a step aimed at diverting attention of from issues affecting the Al-Qaeda affiliated jihadist group like the humiliation it suffered in Mandera on Saturday 19th November 2016, the militant group released an old propaganda video saying they had executed a Tanzania national turned spy for CIA and Rwanda intelligence.
The Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia, Harakat Al-Shabaab Al-Mujahideen movement (HSM) on Sunday 20th November said it had executed fellow fighter identified as Issa James Mwaisige.
This release was aimed to divert attention. Al-Shabaab publicly executed a 27 year old Tanzanian jihadist identified as Issa James Mawaysahga, after confessing espionage and plans to desert the movement at their headquaters in Jiliib Southern Somalia sometimes in April this year.
The militant group only twisted his name Mawaysahga to Mwaisige.
His execution came barely 24 hours after the early morning execution of 3 Somali National Intelligence Agency officers who were assassinated in the capital Mogadishu by suspected Al-Shabaab Amniyaat assassins.
Central Intelligence Agency runs counter terrorism and intelligence operations in Somalia.
They collaborate with Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Djibouti intelligence services in a joint counter terrorism effort.
