The Al Shabaab militant group brutally beheaded two brothers on suspicion of spying for Somali government. The two brothers, who were citizens of Somalia, were also accused of dealing with Ethiopian troops.
The bodies of the two men who were brutally decapitated were found on Sunday13th September 2015 in Raaso village, 60 kilometers south of Buulo Barde town in the central Somali region of Hiran. The two were said to be 20 and 25 years old. A third headless body of unidentified man was also found nearby.
The two brothers were kidnapped by Al Shabaab militants in Buqaqable town last week.
Al Shabaab accused them of having dealings with the Ethiopian troops and spying for the Somali government but locals who also included relatives downplayed the accusation
Al Qaeda branch in Somalia want to topple internationally recognized Somali government and install their Islamist Sharia law, have sped up their attacks on SNA and AMISOM military bases in different parts of the country.
In the past few week, Al Shabaab militants have conducted sporadic attacks across the country mostly targeting government and AMISOM forces as well as their installations. On Saturday 12th September 2015, an AMISOM convoy was targeted with a car bomb outside the nearby town of Janaale.
Militants claimed to have killed some soldiers in the attack through their linked media but AL Shabaab is known to use such platforms to amplify their propaganda.
AMISOM soldiers alongside SNA have been fighting Al Shabaab militants in Somalia since 2007and have successfully been able to recapture large parts of Somalia from the reign of Al Qaeda-linked militants.
