Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, a senior leader/member of the militant Al-Shabaab is currently negotiating a truce with the TFG officials in Afgoye.
Intelligence reports show that in another setback to the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab, talks between Al-Shabaab senior member Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys and AMISOM/TFG are ongoing in Afgoye where he is currently based.
Intelligence sources confirm that Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys sent an emissary, Akil Hassan Elmi, a close ally of Aweys to discuss a ceasefire and his willingness to support the TFG government.
According to the report, Akil Hassan Elmi reports that both Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys and the TFG are willing to work together for the better good of Somalia.
The loss of senior members to TFG and the incursion by KDF which has destroyed almost every resource, base, and strategic interests of Al-Shabaab is a major setback to the militants.
