An army vehicle was destroyed by a roadside mine planted along the Bula-Gaduud – Kismayo road late Tuesday. The vehicle was part of a Somali Army (SNA) convoy on regular patrol in the Bula- Gaduud neighborhood.
According to sources in the SNA revealed that the vehicle was decommissioned, but there were no casualties.
The Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the attack.
The explosion comes as the SNA and allied intensifies the routine sweeps in Somalia to capture al Shabaab militants and sympathizer living among the citizens and using cover identities to conduct attacks on civilian and military targets.
