Infighting between UAE trained soldiers & Somalia military forces clash in Mogadishu’s Tarabunka village. Heavy machine guns are being used by the warring sides by residents of the village. Casualties on both sides reported.
The weak, U.N.-backed government is fighting an al-Qaeda linked Islamist insurgency. But the fight has been hampered by its inability to control its fledgling national security forces, largely recruited from clan militias and put through training by other nations.
Somali’s President recently fired generals in his efforts to restructure the military to be able to handle the country’s security and stability when AMISOM peacekeepers exit the country.
