A key commander of ISCAP in DRC identified as Benjamin Kisokeranio was arrested as he attempted to cross into Burundi. He was arrested in South Kivu where he has served as a commander for the militancy that has plagued Eastern parts of DRC.
Benjamin has been identified as being in charge of intelligence, finance, and supply for the group and has been wanted for the past five years. Intelligence indicates that he has been a close ally of the leadership and has been responsible for facilitating the movement of prominent figures in the insurgency.
The arrest and the fact that he was believed to have been fleeing to Burundi is partly because of the current pressure being mounted against the insurgency in Ituri and North Kivu by ongoing COIN Ops being conducted by the joint efforts of DRC and Ugandan troops.
