At least 14 civilians among them worshippers were killed by Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) in the locality of Ndalya in the Irumu territory of Ituri Province in DRC. The militants attacked a church burning it down as well as proceeding to attack other civilians.
The militants reportedly entered a chapel and killed 12 people including three women were killed and ten others wounded and the building of a church burned down. Two others succumbed to their injures in hospital. Intelligence indicates that the militants who were well-armed cross from Eringeti in North Kivu and into Ituri Province.
The locals have been pressuring the government to launch a major military intervention to prevent the militants from crossing into Ituri from North Kivu and especially in Irumu where sporadic attacks by ISCAP have been occurring in the past few months.
