Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo appointed Omar Mohamud Mohamed as the new mayor for Mogadishu after the former mayor, Abdirahman Omar Osman was killed in an Al-Shabaab claimed attack.
Omar Mohamud Mohamed popularly known as Omar Filish substitutes Abdirahman Omar Osman [Eng Yarisow] who early this month succumbed to critical wounds sustained in Al-Shabaab suicide attack in his office in the capital city on July 24.
Filish will be the new mayor of Mogadishu as well as the governor of Banadir region.
Somalia President called on the new mayor to embark on the completion of pending projects initiated by the late mayor, Abdirahman Omar Osman.
The mayor’s appointment was announced on Thursday 22nd August 2019 from the Presidential office.
