Dozens of fresh al Shabaab recruits were reportedly killed by United States airstrikes in Jamame, Lower Shabelle. The airstrikes are yet to be confirmed by AFRICOM but witnesses have maintained that they had a US connotation.
The al Shabaab killed were attending graduation after receiving training in the region and are also believed to belong to Jaysh Ayman, the Al-Shabaab unit that operates in Kenya.
In recent months there has been a spike in attacks along the Northern Frontier in Kenya and along her border with Somalia. Thus, if the al Shabaab is training more Jaysh Ayman to cross-over and fight in Kenya this intelligence could quite easily prove a growing threat along the borders by the al Shabaab.
However, airstrikes, grounds assaults and intelligence-steered operations both domestically and in Somalia by the Kenya Defense Forces have been decapitating the terror organization and its stealth to sneak into the country and conduct attacks in the country.
