The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) has revealed that at least 6 Islamic State Somalia fighters were killed in airstrikes conducted in coordination with Federal Government of Somalia. The airstrikes took place in Golis Mountains, Somalia an area that is believed to have active ISIS presence.
Precision airstrikes such as these support Somali security forces efforts to protect the Somali people from terrorism and support long-term security in the region. The Golis Mountains are a known area for terrorist camps and ongoing fighting between ISIS and al-Shabaab fighters.
The U.S. has carried out seven Aerial bombardments against ISIS-Somalia and al-Shabaab in the Golis Mountains since last month. The airstrikes in the area have so far killed a total of 34 terrorists.
