The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced that at least one al Shabaab terrorist was killed after its warplanes struck an al Shabaab-held village in southern Somalia. The airstrikes were targeted at al Shabaab positions in the vicinity of Tortoroow.
The airstrike was the second in as many days but the second time targeting al Shabaab a fact that reiterates the threat posed by both al Shabaab and ISIS in the different parts of the country. It is also a clear indication of the recognition of the threat posed to local and regional security by the terrorist groups active in the Horn country.
US airstrikes have taken an upward trend with the strikes currently targeting both terror groups unlike in previous years when they only targeted al- Qaeda affiliated al Shabaab.
