Jubbaland troops and foreign forces have been reported to have carried out anti-Al-Shabaab offensive in militant’s held areas in Gedo and Lower-Middle Juba regions of southern Somalia.
Jubbaland forces carried out a well coordinated ground offensive against the Al-Qaeda linked militants while foreign forces engage the militants in air raids. Details about the casualty figures as a result of the joint air and land operations remains scanty.
In the recent past weeks, Jubbaland troops with the support of African Union forces have been conducting offensives aimed at flushing out Al-Shabaab from their bases in southern regions of Somalia.
