Somali Special Forces known as the Danab successfully took control of Sabiid village near the agricultural town of Afgoye on Monday.
The strategic village has been under the control of the armed group Al-Shabaab. The group has been collecting taxes from locals and forcibly recruiting youths.
Local residents in the area confirmed the presence of the troops carrying out operations.
During the operation, the Special Forces seized a Tanker Truck loaded with explosives and the ordinance team also defused some bombs.
The Al-Qaeda affiliate, Al-Shabaab was plotting to carry out a wide-scale terrorist attack in undisclosed location in Somalia but the American trained Danab forces following on intelligence successfully thwarted their plans and arrested a number of terrorists.
