Parents have been urged to be always mindful of their children whereabouts in an effort to curb the number of youths being drawn to terrorism.
The plea was made by a number of coastal leaders during a prayer session to mark one week after the attack at DusitD2 complex in Nairobi whereby 21 people were killed.
Mombasa County Senator Mohammed Faki urged parents to report to the police in case their child goes missing.
“Do not be afraid, if it has been two or three days and you do not know the whereabouts of your child go report the matter to the police because if you don’t and your child commits a terror attack then you too will be implicated,” said Faki.
The leader’s calls come barely three days after four terror suspects linked to the Dusit attack, including the mother to one of them, were detained for 30 days to allow investigations highlighting threatening cases of homegrown terror.
Also present included; Mombasa Deputy Governor William Kingi, Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir and Mombasa women representative Ashu Hussein.
