At least six Al-Shabaab militants were killed and several others wounded after a fierce clash with Somali military in Middle Shabelle region of Somalia.
According to Somali military source, the government forces successfully foiled an Al-Shabaab attack on Basra village. Captain Mohamed Abdi Warsame of Somali National Army (SNA) confirmed of the Monday attempted capture of Basra village by Al-Shabaab militants saying six terrorists were killed in the dawn clash.
Warsame also confirmed that four Somali soldiers sustained light injuries during the battle and have been attended.
The clash comes barely a week after fierce fighting between Al-Shabaab fighters and self-organised locals, after Al-Shabaab ordered them to give out their children to be trained as the group’s fighters.
