SNA has announced that the two top Al-Shabaab leaders in Bakool and Gedo regions alongside several other militants had surrendered to the government forces.
According to the statement issued, Maalim Geedow Adan Abukar who is a commander in Bakool and Gedo region’s Sheikh Abdirahman Fiino were accompanied by a number of fighters when they surrendered to Somalia government forces.
The defection of the groups comes as the US airstrikes killed two militants in Lower Shabelle and KDF airstrikes that killed over 13 al Shabaab militants in El-Wak. Security analysists have observed an increased level of disarray within the ranks of al Shabaab network in what is being referred to as the beginning of the end of the terror organization.
