Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) conducted airstrikes in Jamaame town of Lower Juba region of Somalia killing an estimated 36 militants belonging to the Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen on Tuesday Afternoon.
The preemptive airstrike destroyed a makeshift militants training and logistics camp which was being used to conduct attacks against AMISOM and Somali Army troops operating in the particular AMISOM sector.
Over 46 militants’ operations targeting American, AMISOM, and SNA troops were planned and logistically launched from the camp.
KDF has increased the number of preemptive airstrikes against the al Shabaab in the recent months as a way to deal head-on with the militants who are scattering from their havens due to the increased pressure from all security partners in Somalia.
