Sunday 26th March 2017, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) army soldiers operating who are under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) successfully conducted a counter-raid and completely destroyed two Al-Shabaab command and logistics bases in Baadhadhe District, Jubbaland Somalia.
The operation which was intelligence led was executed both by air and ground assets. The ground troops –KDF army unit, were supported by attack helicopters and artillery shelling, to access Al-Shabaab terrorists’ base, two command and logistics bases about 17 kilometers from Sarira near Hola Wajeer.
Following the joint KDF units raids, 31 Al-Shabaab terrorists were killed while several others fled with injuries.
Two Al-Shabaab technicals (vehicle mounted with guns) were destroyed and several weaponry, including 11 AK-47 rifles, two PKMs, four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), food supplies, communication equipment, several uniforms, a roll of detonating cable and 634 rounds of assorted ammunition were recovered.
Separately on Sunday, 27 Al-Shabaab terrorists were killed by KDF between Kiunga and Kolbio Border area.
