February 4, 2016: More than 1000 civilians were rescued from Boko Haram militants in a rescue operation in Borno State according to the Deputy Governor Usman Mamman Durkwa.
The Nigerian military rescued the jresidents after they invaded a market that is a meeting place for the Boko Haram who has control over the said region. Most of those rescued where women and children trapped in Garidawaji and Mamawari villages in Dikwa Local Government Area (LGA).
The military seized the camps and promised to depopulate and protect people living in the LGAs to reduce the risk of Boko Haram militants infiltrating and seizing back control terrorizing the internally displaced persons.
According to OSINT reports the camps have been surrounded by ditches that provide fortification from the militants as the IDPs are moved to other camps to allow for the military to conduct attacks against the Boko Haram without putting innocent civilians at hems way.
